Shutdown shortcut

Hi,

I have been using the windows desktop shortcut 'shutdown -r -f -t 00' on my
daughters pc which I access through out home LAN to reboot her PC remotely.

This morning I installed the latest set of windows updates, but also a few
other programs (non of which I can imagine interfering).

The shortcut will not now work, in fact, even double clicking the actual exe
will not work anymore.

I can go to 'run' and enter 'shutdown -r -f -t 00' and it will work, so I
think it is either a remote script block or something similar that has now
disabled it.

FYI when I double click the shortcut I see the DOS command box open and
close very fast, as if the actual command is being processed, but then
nothing.

Anyone any ideas please?

I have every XP update and this has not happened to me but then mine isn't networked like yours. What happens if the shortcut is clicked on her computer directly.
Mine are set up as:
Shutdown shortcut: %windir%\System32\Shutdown.exe -s -t 0
Reboot shortcut: %windir%\System32\Shutdown.exe -r -t 0

Thought I had it cured but no luck.

Your shortcuts are the same as I am using, and I have just plugged in a
keyboard, mouse and monitor and am surprised to find it will not shutdown
even locally using those shortcuts.

I think I have broken something somewhere and am going to reinstall tonight.

Thanks anyway,

Neil
