How to increase networking timeouts?

In a Firefox forum I was asking about a problem when I open a window(s) with
many tabs/websites and many of them never connect to their websites. Below
is one of the answers...(I'm trying to find out how to follow the suggestion
that I increase the network timeout(s) to try to solve this problem. I'm
opening windows with 20-30 tabs/websites and it takes so long that many of
the tabs/websites fail to connect.) :

And is there a setting that would make Firefox3 try a little longer
to open up each tab(website).

Not within Firefox. Firefox waits as long as your system is trying to
reach the website, so you'd need to increase the networking timeout(s)
for your OS.


Any ideas about this?
