IMAP timeout, attachment association, & hyperlink issues

Several problems here w/ windows mail I haven't been able to solve: (all
these work in thunderbird)

1. If I leave my windows mail idle for a while using my IMAP account and
then try to perform an action such as deleting or purging, i immediately get
the "timed out" window & it will often hang for the set timeout period. It
seems as if the IMAP connection times out & windows mail doesn't know to
check before it tries the operation. It's very annoying.

2. I have adobe reader associated w/ PDF files (went through set
associations in control panel), but get the message saying they can't be
opened when opened as an attachment. Keeps telling me to set associations.

3. When clicking hyperlinks in mail messages, I get the "address not found"
window, and then the website opens (using firefox).

Any ideas? Seems that windows mail was a big step down from OE and
everything causes an error window that must be closed. Thanks

Have you applied this?

Looks like a problem in Firefox.

People who don't like Windows Mail often prefer Windows Live Mail,
which can take over any account Windows Mail can handle and add
Hotmail accounts as well:
