I installed SP2 on my XP Pro laptop, quite an odissey but it finally got
installed. Since my computers are on a local home network, all of the have
the built-in Windows firewall disabled BECAUSE I have an external router +
firewall between my computers and the Cable Modem.
Every time I start windows on the SP2 computer I get this annoying icon &
balloon saying that it has detected the Firewall is disabled (of course, I
chose it that way for the reasons mentioned above). I am tired of that
balloon popping up, and I know my built-in firewall is disabled (by design).
So how can I get rid of that particular notification? I think Microsoft
people forgot that the built-in Windows firewall is not the only one on the
market! I see no option to turn off this check in the "Security Center". It
appears to assume that you would never and should never use any other
firewall that is not software based and installed on the computer. That is
the wrong assumption.
Any hints as to how to disable that particular check/notification would be
greatly appreciated.
Thx
Emil.
