How to get old settings after XP reloaded?

After getting new motherboad and CPU, I had to reload Windows XP. I am using
my old hard drives. How do I get my newly reloaded Windows to recognize the
old programs in the hard drive? Do I have to reload all previous programs?
When trying to reload Roxio Easy Media Creator 7, I had an install shield
error that stopped the reload. Reinstalled other programs without problems
(MS Office and others). Roxio (and others) are still in the hard drive, and
I suspect this is part of my problem. Thanks for any suggestions.

How did you "reload" XP? If you did a "repair" install, then all should be
okay, providing you do all the Windows Update since the Service Pack install
(if SP1, since SP1; if SP2, since SP2.)

If you let XP install XP back on top of your installed version, you need to
re-install every program and every updates that were installed before.
