How do you convert DVR-MS?

I have been looking all over, since ms doesn't support the new format. I
have tried using the programs off of TGB and they do not work at all.
Probably to show off. I just want to convert dvr-ms to mpeg files. There
HAS to be a way (free preferably).

Converting it to MPEG wouldn't help you if your
goal is to import it into Movie Maker. I've
used DVR2WMV to convert to WMV - does a nice job.

How do you get it to work?

I just add the file, then click on Start. I always get this error..."No
combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection.
The program will now exit." Am I missing something?

Hi Nathan,

Use the DVR 2 WMV Standalone program. Go to
Options -> Compatibility Mode, and make sure
that "Yes" is checked.

That should do the trick. Please let me know
if it works.

I just wish there was a FAQ or help file that came with it. Maybe future
release.

Something that works

After following mega-links, I finally found something that actually works to convert dvr-ms to mpeg.

And it's freeware.

And it even did dvr-ms to wmv for me (although a previous reviewer claimed it didn't for them).
