How do I turn off voice notification when E-Mail messages come in.

When I open up Outlook and my messages are downloaded, a voice says "you have
three mails" and continues on as more mail is received. It never corresponds
with the number of mail I have and it gets quite irritating listening to such
a mundane voice.

Thanks

Well, is the number varies you must have an add-in that is doing this.
You'll need to remove or disable it.

I get frustrated with these message boards, it seems as though when I ask a
question, the replies I get always state the obvious and never help me solve
my problem. Example, How do I turn this off any you say well you'll have to
remove it or disable it. Well of course thats what has to be done.. I'm
asking "How?" Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your time but it's like
asking how do I fix my widget and you say well in order to make it work
you're going to need to fix it.
So the question remains, How do I disable it, remove it, or turn it off?
It's probably this darn voice notification thats making me seem a little on
edge. Try listening to this monotone voice each day.
Thanks

People can suggest only those answers that are available to the general
Outlook user population and while a response may suggest to you something
obvious, the responder has no way of knowing what you've tried already
because you didn't say what you've tried already. You never even stated
your verison of Outlook. Moreover, the problem is that, as has already been
said, it's NOT something that Outlook comes with, so it's a problem specific
to your installation and, since only you know the details of that, no one
can suggest how you disable it. People can't read your mind or see your
computer screen. Why do you get upset they have to guess because YOU
suuplied no diagnostic information?

If it is an add-in, click Tools>Options>Other>Advanced Options and look in
either (or both) Add-In Manager or COM Add-Ins. State what you see.

How did you enable it, install it, or turn it on? Whatever you did, undo
it. While this may sound like a flip answer, it's not. It's something
specific to you so you have to solve the problem.

I didn't give you any more information than I gave the first person and with
the possilbility of it being an add-in, you directed me on how to look under
the add-in manager button and the COM add-in button. I unchecked a box that
was called Mail Speak (Toshiba) and it fixed the problem, so far.

Thanks

But Bill DID suggest it was an add-in. You should be familiar enough with
your own installation to have found the add-in manager. Don't you
investigate all menu items when you install a program so you know what the
program does?

I bought the computer with everything preinstalled and, again, look at my
question...how do I turn off the voice, not why is the voice there. In my
business if someone asks me how to fix something I don't tell them why it's
doing it. You can't assume everyone is computer savy. I consider myself
capable of getting around, but I know people that still don't know how to set
up their E-Mail accounts

The Help file can be handy! Plus you will find many posts in these forums of
how to do this.
