Can't turn off "You've Got Mail" voice

I am running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP-SP3. Whenever I start Outlook a
voice tells me "There Are 27 Unread Mails" (or whatever the number happens to
be) and when new emails arrive it says "You've got 3 mails" (again with the
number varying per no. of emails)

I have attempted to turn this off in Tools/Options/Email Options/Advanced
Email Options as well as changing the settings in the Control Panel/Sounds
settings but I can't get this voice to stop. It is very annoying. Can
anyone help?

tools>options>e-mail optons>advanced e-mail options, uncheck play a sound.
Good Luck!

Do you have AOL installed or some other IM or E-Mail installed? Check there.

No need to post more than once.

Every time I tried to post this I got an error message stating that due to a
system failure my message could not be posted. Thus the all attempts to
repost. I didn't realize until I checked the message board this morning.

I found the solution in another post. You have to look in Outlook under
Tools/Reading Options, then uncheck the 'Inform Mail Receiving' box.

You obviously have some third-party addin. My Outlook 2003 doesn't have a
Tools-Reading Options....

Use a newsreader instead. You won't see the errors again.

That's a menu item added by Toshiba Voice.
