How do I setup Outlook as default email?

I have Outlook 2007 and I keep getting a message that says "Either there is
no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the
messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as default mail
client." In Outlook, I already made sure that under Options/Other, the box
is checked for "setup as default", but I continue to get this error message
every 5 minutes.

You must set up Outlook in Internet Options or Default Programs in Vista, not
in Outlook. You cannot do that until you set up your valid mail accts in
Outlook. Remember that Outlook cannot be used for free web mail like Hotmail
and Yahoo. Use your browser for that type of mail.

I am having the same issue. I have all of my e-mail accounts set up, AND
outlook (2007) is set up as my default e-mail client in Vista under Internet
Options/Default Programs AND STILL I get the error message constantly. I am
able to send and receive e-mail. I have posted this question several times
and have not received a response. Can someone please help???
