How do I restore a default toolbar?

The Formatting toolbar appears to be missing on one of our workstations
and would very much like to see its return.

However, the Formatting toolbar, for some unknown reason, appears to be
missing from the list of available toolbars.

ie.
Creating a New message (HTML). From that window, I choose, Tools -
Customize, "Toolbars" (tab), and "Formatting" is not in the list. All
other workstations in the office have "Formatting" here except this
machine. My machine.

How can I get it back? How does a seemingly undeleteable default type
toolbar disappear?

what version of outlook and are you using word as your editor? is the format
of the message html or RTF? you'll only see the formatting toolbar for those
two formats.

Outlook 2003. Word is not the editor. HTML is the message format
(default).

but is the message html? all new messages would be, but replies could be
plain text.

find and delete outcmd.dat. then restart outlook. This will delete and reset
all toolbars, .

10-17-06: Deleting the OUTCMD.DAT and restarting Outlook fixed the
problem {the formatting toolbar was restored}
