How do I remove unneeded MSCONFIG/startup lines

Courtney

Okay, I just Un-installed a SB Audigy 2 Soundcard. Now
there are a few Creative startup utilities that I turned
off in the MSCONFIG utility in XP. Yet even thought they
will no longer load up in XP, they are still present in
the Startup folder in MSCONFIG, even thought they are not
checked. How can I remove them altogether from the
Startup folder? It would seem I will have to navigate to
a Registry key and manually delete them, and there
associated strings, right?

Thanks, all!

Hi Courtney,

Clear Disabled Items from Msconfig Startup (Line 148)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Manual:

Go to Start/Run/Regedit to access these keys and values to delete/remove
them:

For items that were in the Start menu, Programs, Startup folder:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder.
You'll find a subkey for each disabled item.

For items loaded from the Registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg.
Again, you'll find a subkey for each disabled item.
