How do I import OE 6 address book to Outlook?

I would like to begin using Outlook 2002. Everything works fine with the
exception of the address book. I would like to import the Outlook Express
address book into Outlook, however, I am unable to figure out how to do this.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Outlook can only import the OE 6 address book on your hard drive, currently
associated with Outlook Express. You should, however, be able to import the
..wab file on your floppy into OE, then move on to the Outlook imp9ort.

Your Windows Address Book must be connected to Outlook Express. Outlook
talks directly to OE to import the address book into the Contacts folder.
Copy your WAB to HD, import it into OE, then use Outlook to import it from
OE.

Hi Brian:

I downloaded the entire Outlook Express from my laptop and burned it to a
CD. I went into the Outlook Express program files and pasted the wab file
from the CD. I then tried to import the file into OE without success. Thanks

Do I need to install the programOutlook Express into my new computer and
install the address book from my laptop? ... Then import the file to Outlook.

Thanks

Hi again:

I tried to export my OE address book on my laptop onto a 3 1/2 floppy. The
only option I was given was a .csv extention. An option called "comma
separated values" came up as the export option. The problem is that OE on my
new computer does not recognize the .csv extension. I know that I can import
the 'address book' from OE on my new computer. The task is getting the OE
files from my laptop to the new computer.

Thanks for your patience.

Don't export it. Just copy the WAB file itself.

So what went wrong? What errors did you get? How did you try to import it?
It should import in OE with File>Import>Address Book.

Hi Brian:

Thanks for all you help. I think I'm close to getting it, but not quite. I
went to my laptop and went to Address Book; Export; Address Book (WAB). It
asked for a file name to add to the .wab extension. I also went to programs
and copied and pasted the WAB Address Book to the 3 1/2 floppy.

Next, I took the floppy over to my new computer and went to OE. I tired to
do the import through the Address Book Import and was unsuccessful. I also
tried to do the import throught the FILE; Import function. When I tired to
open the 3 1/2" floppy there was no visible file. The following appeared:
'File Name' came up blank. 'File Type: Address Book Files (*.wab)'. There
were no files visible in the screen. When I checked the 3 1/2 floppy in 'My
Computer', the wab is there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again

So, after browsing to drive A, select the WAB you see there, select it, and
click OK.

Hi Brian:

The problem is when I browse the A drive, there is nothing there. I am
missing something here. Can you be more specific. I have the wab on my A
drive but it will not show up when I try and open it. I can only see the file
when I look in My Computer for the file under the 3 1/2 floppy drive.

Thanks

When you're attempting to open the file on the floppy drive, are you
specifying "All files" in the file type?

Hi:

I have tried to open "All Files" but the only option available is "Address
Book Files (*wab)". The screen is blank and it does not show a file name.
However, the 'wab' file is there when I check it out the 'A' drive in 'My
Computer.'

Thanks
