How do I find a tick in Word?

I'm filling in an application form to be sent by email and have to 'tick'
some boxes but can't find one to insert. Does any one know if/where there is
one in Word 2007?

Click on the Symbol item in the Symbols section of the Insert tab of the
ribbon. Then go to the Wingdings font and insert 252

Or hold down the Alt key and type 0252 on the numeric keypad and the select
the ü character that is inserted and then format it with the Wingdings font.
