How do I back up my Outlook Express 6 email folders ?

Sorry but I just got a new puter and am new to XP and just cannot figure out
how to copy my emails onto a cd.
I looked in outlook express help menu and here is what it says to do:

Select an e-mail folder.
On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Compact.
To back up the folder, find the folder file, and then copy it to a backup
folder, floppy disk, or network drive. Outlook Express e-mail folders have a
..dbx extension (for example, "Sent Items.dbx").

End of what it says to do.

Now,
as a test- I compacted one folder with one email in it, WHERE do I find it?
I did a search by the folder's name in search area via the start up menu
and cannot find it, where does compacted stuff go? I typed in the folders
name.dbx, still no luck.
Also, every time I close out outlook express a little window comes up asking
me if I want to compact messages to free up or save on disk space?! Don't
think so since I cannot figure out where they are going !

Thanks in advance !

Outlook Express data stores use a .Dbx extension. The filename itself
directly reflects the folder it contains (Inbox, ....). They are saved in a
sub-folder of your Documents & Settings tree. Usually, it's easier to
find them with a full system search for the .Dbx extension. For each
OE profile there will be another set of .Dbx. So when backing them up
be sure to not intermix .Dbx modules from differing profiles.

Here is a good website with straightforward help on OE backup(s).

The path is C:\Documents and Settings\[Your name]\Local Settings\Application
Data\identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express. GUID is a very long umber.
You can drop and drag Outlook Express.

If you cannot see all of the above folders, go to Control
Panel\Folders\View, and select Show Hidden Files and Folders. Let me know if
this works for you.
