Recovering compacted message folders

I had to do a clean install of windows XP, and compacted my Outlook Express folders and storethem on a CD. Now I cant figure out how to get Outlook express to recognize them. I copied them back into the Folder outlook is using for storage, but no help.

I had the same issue but I got lucky and tried 1 more thing, I dragged the icon to the desktop and was able to open my old address book from there. Hope this helps!
