How can you restore personal folders from backup.pst?

I inadvertently lost my outlook.pst file-permanently. The data appears to be
in backup.pst, but I cannot get program to work except if I overwrite my
personal folders (and can't see any of the email stored there). I am on
Office XP. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your reply...I had seen your site before and it was there I became
aware that backup.pst has severe limitations. Do you know of any way to
"liberate" my personal folders so I can see and use them?

well, i went to look for the folders to see what would happen, and they were
all inside the inbox. this was after i allowed outlook to remap on
reinstallation. i feel like a total "duh" now, but thank you for making me
look for them...I am SO happy to have my stuff back.

and I have bookmarked your page so I can learn to back up properly-THANKS!
