I would like set-up a mock election for my students in grades 4-6 to vote on
the presidential election using the computer. Where they can come in an vote.
Then tally their results.

Word might not be your best option for this, though you can read about
creating Forms and collecting data here:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/LinesInForms.htm
(see the tutorials by Dian Chapman).

An alternative might be to use Excel and its Template Wizard add-in (which
you may need to download - information on the Excel 2000 version is here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;214246) or even Works
or Access with a simple database and form.

Good luck!
(P.S. Maybe building this tool should be a learning task for those 6th
graders?)
