How can I pan photos without the photos moving?

The zoom in and zoom out features in Custom Animation work fine, but I am
having trouble panning each of several photos I have on a PowerPoint slide
without the photos moving. Basically, I want the effect of a camera moving
from left to right across a photo and stopping where I want it to stop. I
have had no luck using the motion paths feature because using it makes the
photo move. Doesn't PowerPoint have the pan feature that is in Microsoft's
free PhtoStory 3 program? That pan feature is perfect for what I'm looking
for.
