How can I disable the "you've got mail" voice?

Assuming you are running Windows XP, Control Panel > Sounds and Audio
Devices > Sounds tab and then check to see what is set for the new mail
notification.

I've had the same problem and I've tried ALL the suggestions listed on the
site and NON of them work. This is nothing I've ever set. I have a sound that
I play when new email comes in, but it plays in addition to this irritating
voice. I wonder if this is somne kind of update with Windows SP2?

If you check control panel->sounds and multimedia->new mail notification,
what file(s) do you have showing up? Try changing it to a different .wav
sound.

This reading thing has to do with Office 2003 SP 1 ... in the Tools menu the
SP added 4 options at the very bottom. One says "Reading options ..." and
that's where this voice thing is. The option is called "Inform Mail
Receiving" ... just uncheck it and that should shut that stupid voice up.

Hope this is helpful.
