Hover Button - Applet

I have used the hover button for the top menu buttons on all my web pages.
When I hit each new page IE7 requires me to "click to activate this control"
and then the hover color change works when I hover over the button. Then
when I click on the button it brings up the linked page in a new tab versus
refreshing the view within the current window (yes, I have checked my
settings for tabbed browsing). Can anyone help?

Check your settings in IE and make sure Java is allowed. You may also want
to go to java.sun.com and make sure you have the latest JVM installed on
your PC. On a side note, you might want to consider replacing the hover
buttons with Interactive Buttons or buttons that use CSS or JavaScript for
the same effects. The reason is that hover buttons require a Java Virtual
Machine (JVM) be installed on the user's PC and if someone doesn't have it
then they won't see the buttons.

I would recommend strongly to dump the java applet button.
it requires the user's machine to have a JVM (Java Virtual Machine) and
allow it to run, etc.
this is a less than ideal choice for something as critical as navigation for
a lot of different reasons.

why not use the "interactive button" instead?
