Hourglass flashes

Ya mean nobody knows how to make this annoyance go away,
hmmm.

When I open Micosoft Word and start typing the hourglass
continuously flashes. I know this means something is
running or something in the background is trying to do
something. Someone thought it was possibly the antivirus
indicating it's time to upgrade, that's not my issue. I
checked all items in MSCONFIG and removed as much as
possible. This MS Word 2000 with all updates added.

It's only been 1 hour since you posted the question. Be a little patient
and reply to your own thread - don't start another one.

Generally speaking, the hourglass means that windows is working/doing
something. Open up task manager before you start Word and find out what's
using all your resources.
