Hourglass flashes

When I open Micosoft Word and start typing the hourglass
continuously flashes. I know this means something is
running or something in the background is trying to do
something. Someone thought it was possibly the antivirus
indicating it's time to upgrade, that's not my issue. I
checked all items in MSCONFIG and removed as much as
possible. This MS Word 2000 with all updates added.

Hi, Richie. You posted this before and didn't get any answers. Sorry I
don't have one for you either, since I don't use Word. Your best bet is
to post your question in one of the MS Word newsgroups, where you will
find experts in the program. Here is a link with a list of all the MS
newsgroups:

He did get several answers. Since he's using the CDO, he missed
them. Here's a copy of a reply from me:

I don't remember if Word 2000 has an option for installing speech
recognition or not, (Word 2002 does) but if it is installed, remove
it. I had that option turned on in Word 2002 and it caused the
problem you described.

Also try: Turning off (Options, Tools) "Provide feedback with sound",
"check grammar as you type", and "Allow Fast Saves". Hope this helps
you out. If not, you might consider posting the question in one of
the Word groups on this same server.

Make sure Indexing service is turned off (see Services.msc)
