hibernate

This is the message I receive when I go and check 'Enable
hibernate'. Power Policy Manager unable to reserve
hibernate file. "The process cannot access the file
because it is being used by another process."
I was able to use hibernate until I recently had to
reinstall WINDOWSXP. Now I keep getting the above message.
How do I get whatever the other process is to stop using
hibernate so it can be enabled by me? If anyone has had
this problem and knows how to resolve it, please clue me
in. Thanks

Check if a HIBERFIL.SYS file exists while Hibernation is off. If so,
delete the file. If this does not work, retry from the Safe Mode and
then re-activate Hibernation.
