Hibernate Using Screen Saver

On my desktop computer using XP Home Edition, I set the screen saver to
hibernate under energy savings mode. However, when the alloted time expires,
nothing happens. What is wrong?

Some computers can't go into standby or hibernate. Can you do so when
not using the screen saver?

I just tested hibernate. It works fine. But when I go to screensaver,
power, power schemes, I set it to Energy Star, then set the timer. Nothing
happens.

Interesting. I can't use standby or hibernate on this machine but I
just tried the same thing on another machine and the same thing happens
as you are describing.

Check your BIOS to make sure the Energy Star settings are enabled.

Terry: I got this to work at home. Then my daughter was doing a "restore"
on her iPod. Half-way through, the computer went to hibernate. She almost
destroyed the iPod. I did not come up with a good idea. I don't recommend
this.
