i have a laptop, a toshiba satellite l30, and when i start it, the chkdsk program freezes when checking the consistency

i need to defrag my hard drive as its not very fast now

i also have some corrupt files, which i need to delete, please HELP!

it is windows xp with service pack 2, and it has 40 gig hdd mem, and 256mb memory.it has a celeron M processor...

help?lol
