i have the anti-spyware software installed on my
computer. today, i ran a scan and removed the spyware
components it found during its scan. immediately after it
was done removing all the components, things on my
computer changed. I first noticed i wasn't able to cut
and paste anything. nor could i drag and drop things from
folder to folder. then i noticed that i could no longer
connect to the internet. I restarted my computer thinking
it would help. when all the start-up stuff was done
loading, i no longer had a bar at the bottom of my screen
or a start button. Also, i can't open audio files and my
computer no longer makes any file associations. I have to
tell it what program to use to open files. Overall, my
computer is running much slower than it did before this
incident. Who knows what else i will find next.

when i try to open the anti-spyware program, a screen pops
up claiming there's a critical error (Error 101) and i
can't open the program at all.

i have a sony vaio PCV-RX680G running XP. i have SP 2 and
all the other up to date updates. i have up-to-date anti-
virus software installed. please help!!

Thanks,
Mitch

For the Internet connectivity issue, please go to a command prompt and type:

netsh winsock reset

and hit enter.

You can read about the causes of this issue and more about the fix here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892350

I'd recommend restarting in safe mode and scanning again, doing full scans,
and continuing to scan until a full scan comes out clean.

Then let us know how things are going.
