Beware *WinSpyware*

I started up my PC which has up to date antivurus, Microsoft Anti Spyware,
and firewalled.

It immediately downloaded and installed a "supposed" anti spyware program
called "WinSpyware" and informed me I had 40 known spywares. It then prompted
me to run a scan. Not! It also launced I.E. and sent me to
www.winspyware.com.

I unistalled the app and ran a virus and spyware scan.
Results show nothing.

Anyone else seen this yet? Am I prone to phising now?

case beacuse I cannot find any good advice within any forum without using
HijackThis and to be carefully guided.
Get HijackThis.exe from
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe
http://computercops.biz/HijackThis.html

Save it to C:\hjt (new folder) then Open it and select Scan and Save Log.
Note where you saved the log then send it to him as an attachment. Put
Hijack in the subject so he'll know it's not spªm.

Alternatively you can post it on the Dell Forum ªt:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=si_hijack

(if it wraps you can go tº:

http://tinyurl.com/ckuzq instead.)

Put Ron in the subject so he will see it. You do not need to have a Dell to
post but you will need to register.

This spyware was automatically loaded on my PC one night when I left it on. I could not navigate on the internet at all with this application. It was constantly telling me I had threats invading my PC. I have NORTON anti-spyware and it was not telling me I had these threats. I could not uninstall it and it was very difficult to find the program. Eventually I did a search, found the program, deleted it after putting it to a folder. Then I ran Norton which found this as a potential threat and fixed the problem for me. In the meantime, I had accidently "purchased" the program when trying to get it off my PC. It charged me $160.00. Of course the phone numbers to call and complain are always busy. This is a scam and a major invasion on your security.
