help with 2 problems please

1 My setup is a home network with XP Home as host and W98se as secondary.
The newtwork is implemented by VIA Compatible Fast Ethernet Adaptors
connected by the blue cable (Incidentally the ports for the blue cable don't
show upin the Device Mnanger of either machine - why, I wonder?)
The Network just isn't 100%. Briefly, XP can see and access the shared
folders on W98, the local network icon shows in XP's notification bar, etc.
In short, XP thinks everything is fine. Not so with W98. As of now, it
can't see XP, can't access any shared folders on XP, no network icon in its
notification bar. The only thing it seems to be doing right is give a
Warning message if I try to close down W98 while XP is still running. I run
the the Network Wizard routine on both machines and it indicates that the
network has indeed been set up.
I should mention that the network has worked pretty well as it should,
except I couldn't get Outlook Express hooked up from W98 via XP, though IE
would work. But I can't get this going again.

2 Recently the DUN dialog shows up on the screen every time I boot. There
is nothing corresponding in Start Up | Startup | programs. Also, most
irritating, I have to click the Cancel button thrre or four times to make it
close

Guidance, words of wisdom on these problems would be greatly appreciated

What are "blue cable ports", and where are you looking for them at and what
do you expect to find..? Are you talking about your NIC showing up in the
device manager...?

If you are using a firewall it will have to be set-up to allow the 98
machine to see XP.
