when I type in a web address, say "hotmail.com" I always
get redirected to a site that is definately not
hotmail.com. In fact, no matter what web address I type
in I always get redirected to the same site I don't want
to visit. How do I fix this problem?

download them, keep them updated, and run them to get rid of the spyware
that is redirecting your searches.

Browser hijkackers that corrupt the HOSTS file. Use Search/Find to find
this file and rename it to OLDHOSTS.TXT.

Get these:
Ad-aware home: http://www.lavasoftusa.com
SpyBot available from
http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/ and update the reference files
through their Online update function. Run them and select all items and
remove.
You may have to reboot and rerun a couple of times to completely remove
them.
Also run the Immunize function to
prevent these nasties from installing again.

Get SpywareBlaster to stop these nasties.
