Help! User administrator deleted in windows XP!

Guest

Hello everybody!

I'm writing in behalf of a friend that trying to create a new user in
Windows XP, created by mistake a new administrator. Both administrators, the
default one and the one that he created conflicted and now both are gone.

Now his PC has only one invited user with many restrictions, including not
being able to access the Windows on-line technical support or creating a new
administrator.

Does anybody knows how to restore the administrator from a session of
invited user? Is there any other solution? Will we have to install again
Windows XP?

Every answer and suggestion will be appreciated!!!

Many thanks,

Patricia

While you can rename the main "Administrator" account, you
cannot delete it. What makes you think it's gone? And what
exactly do you mean with "the accounts conflicted"? You can
create as many administrator accounts as you like and they
will co-exist happily with each other.

Here is a quick way to see what accounts you have:
- Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}
- Type this command:
net user
What do you see?

Boot to SafeMode.
Press F8 while booting.
This will boot into the Administrator account.

If the only admin level account on the computer had been the built in
Administrator account, as soon as another account with admin privileges is
created, that account is hidden. To access the Administrator account, if
this is XP Pro from the Welcome Screen do ctrl-alt-del twice to get the
login dialog box, type Administrator for the user and the password. For XP
Home login to safe mode and Administrator will appear on the welcome screen.

It is not a good idea to use the built in Administrator account for day to
day activities. It should get a strong password and set it aside to use
only if a problem develops with the other admin account. The data and
settings can be transferred from the Administrator account to a new account
with admin privileges.
