Help Request - Login automatically logs out

I am having a real problem with my laptop - whenever I try
to login using any of the three users that I have set up
on my W2K Pro O/S laptop it takes the login information,
logs in and then instantly logs out straight away. So in
effect I get 'Login', 'Loading Settings','Saving Settings,
logged out. This is driving me crazy - does anyoe have any
suggestions?

I was using 'Switchuser.exe' for a while in order to get
onto a clients network, but took it off after leaving
their offices. This problem started immediately
afterwards. My ERD is corrupt, and I cannot login via the
networ either.

I have not had that happen to me Brad but here is what I would try
to do. Try to boot into Safe Mode and if that works look in event viewer for
errors. Do an ungraceful shut down to force Check Disk on next start up. If
no one else has any better ideas you may try a repair install and choose
fast repair [you do not necessarily need ERD floppy], that basically will
restore your registry to what it was after installation. Another option is
to use Recovery Console to make sure Net Logon service is enabled and
started [I remember reading that solved the problem for another user
somewhere] or other tools it has. --- Steve
