Hi I have potsed this query on Dell website but wondered if anyone here could
help. Thanks!!!

Hi - any help would be really welcome. My mum knows very little about
computers (and Im not much better but has enjoyed using her new laptop
(inspiron 1525). But she now cant use it because of this error when she
turns it on. It wont do anything else. Would really appreciate any advice as
to what it means. She has told me this over the phone so hopefully it is
accurate. Thanks!! :

Well it is up to Dell to fix this problem which is caused by their junk
installed on the computer, I would try to uninstall it if I were you but
that's your choice.

Control Panel / add remove programs or whatever and see if you see
MDirect or Media Direct. I don't know for sure because I don't use Dell
at all.

I would add that this kind of problem often comes from turning the
machine off without following the shutdown procedure, it's not a TV and
simply turning off power causes problems. Being a laptop this should not
happen, but kust make sure you are following their instructions and also
have the latest drivers for the machine, If you are going to be talking
to Dell ask how to check that, they owe you at least that much.

As Charlie says, it is Dell's Media Direct software. Google on
"mdirect.exe" and you will get hits to discussions about it.
