Kevin a device driver is the problem. Have you recently installed any new
hardware or updated any device drivers. To be honest, device driver problems
are more a case of trial and error until you can locate the device that is
causing the problem. Reinstalling the operating system may not help because
you are 'installing' the same device drivers.
It may be worth checking the websites of all the hardware manufacturer's to
which your pc has hardware. Check if a newer device driver is available.
If,on the other hand, you have recently installed new hardware try disabling
it by going to control panel and clicking on the system icon. Click the
hardware tab and then select device manager. In device manager select the
hardware you want and right click on it. from the drop down menu select
Properties. In the hardware properties window look near at the bottom of the
window and you will see a section called 'device usage' If you click the
green arrow to the right of this dialog box a drop down menu will appear.
Select 'do not use this device (disable)' Finally click Ok. Alernatively you
can clcik on the driver tab in the properties window and select 'rollback'
to rollback the driver to the previously installed driver.
