Help networking 2 computers through ethernet

Guest

I am trying to network two computers through the ethernet. I do not have a
network hub though (they are conected directly together). The two computers
seem to recognise that the two computers are conected together, but I cant
seem to get printer/file sharing to work (the main goal of the network). I
am using "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC" network cardes. The
status is reported as "limited or no connectivity" even though I disabled
Windows firewall (on both computers) and told Symantics Norton Personal
Firewall 2005 that I trust the computer (only on the computer that has a
internet connection, the other computer does not have Symantics Norton
Personal Firewall 2005 install because it does not have a internet
connection). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix my network
problems?

Thanks,

The message "limited or no connectivity" is normal in your case. The question
is whether your computers do connect.

Please extract the output from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from both
computers (hoping that both computers have working floppy drives or similar),
and post it here, per instructions:

Ya, that's was the problem. I did not realize there was a difference until I
did some more resarch after posting here, and did not have the chance to say
that I figured it out.

I still wish to thank both of you for helping me out.

Thanks,
