Wireless Networking - 2 computers

Hello - I have a PC running XP Media Center, and a new laptop running XP
Professional. I was successful in setting up my wireless router - both
computers can access the Internet.

I've shared folders, but cannot map a network drive - "it can't find network
path". I've turned off my Windows Firewall . . . I can "ping" back and forth.
As you can see, I need help!!! A friend says it's some kind of firewall
issue? I removed Norton from my new laptop . . . and don't have any security
(yet) on my PC. I contacted the router company . . . they said "it's not our
problem, since you can access the internet".

Many thanks to anyone that can help!

What exactly are you specifying for the name of the folder (or disk)
that you want to map? The syntax is:

\\computer\folder

where "computer" is the name of the computer that has the shared
folder, and "folder" is the share name of the folder.

\\laptop\deborah - for a folder I created on my laptop

\\wife\deborah - for a folder I created on my PC

Here's a weird thing I forgot to mention. We got everything to map correctly
- then I turned off my laptop, went into another room of my house, turned it
on, and ever since then it won't map again. I made sure the checkbox
"reconnect at restart" was enabled.

Something else - when I view "workgroup" on my PC it shows my laptop, but
when I view "workgroup" on my laptop it doesn't show my PC.

Thanks! :)

I got some help figuring it out!

They had me type in the IP address of my PC from my laptop (in a browser) .
.. . the files on my PC showed up! I then clicked on the shared folder - right
clicked, and mapped the drive. It all works now - don't understand why it
didn't work before
