OK
- yes FP2K works with Windows XP Professional
If it is only the root web YWCA_site that is having a problem with the folder New_Folder being converted to a subweb
- check if you can create another folder (say cgi_bin) in that local web (under the root) and convert it to a subweb (you can delete
it later)
- try renaming New_Folder to something else and converting it to a subweb
- detect and repair will not correct bad FP META data in a local FP web
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files in the folder FrontPageTempDir
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and/or %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden web cache files (*.web) files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
(where %USERPROFILE% should result in the path: C:\Documents and Settings\ray\)
It's not just the presence of the _private and images folders but also the _hidden _vti_cnf and _vti_pvt folders and their files
that makes the folder a FP DBW web / subweb
(those should never be copied from one folder/web to another)
More importantly FP tracks which folders in a web are subweb folders through the file named "services" in _vti_pvt. In your root
web it should have something like:
/
/campaign
/WorldCouncil
/young_womens
(For your current root and 3 subwebs)
- if somehow New_Folder is listed, delete the entry
FYI
FP disc based webs behave best it they are top level folders w/o spaces in the name / path on your hard drive
Open your root web YWCA_site (which should have the 3 subwebs in it already)
Delete the folder New_Folder (move any content to another folder if needed)
The File Publish Web (All pages including Subwebs) and enter a new Disc based web location
- say C:\YWCA_site\
Close the current web and open the new DBW by File Open Web and browsing to C:\YWCA_site\ and run a tool recalculate hyperlinks
(you can eventually reopen the old web under My Webs and right click its root to delete it and its content)
Create the folder New_Folder (or what ever you are really going to call it) in the root web C:\YWCA_site\ and select convert to web
- you will need to use a File Publish (All Pages, Including Subwebs) the 1st time you publish to your server at
http://www.worldywca.org/ to get the new DBW in sync w/ your online web
You can also open your online web at
http://www.worldywca.org/ in FP (File Open Web and enter the same URL), and then just use File
Publish (All Pages, Including Subwebs) but select the new top level disc based location at C:\YWCA_site\ to create the new DBW
- Since your online host apparently supports the FP SE try to convert it to a subweb online
- If it will not convert to a subweb online in FP, delete the folder New_Folder before publishing

| under the main web. I do not publish via FTP, but using FTP I can see all
| the _private files and folders for them. Therefore these private folders
| must be masked during an HTTP check as you have tried.

| webs I opened subwebs and they work as they should.
