HELP - my outlook won't load at all now...

Hello -

I have Office 97. I tried to use my "Receive Fax" the
other day...I left it on for a few hours so it would
receive a fax someone was sending me. When I came back
later, the whole computer was frozen. Now the computer
works, but when I try to open Outlook I get the following
error message:

OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:00000000.

What Fax software and what did you do?

I used the OUTLOOK fax system - simply clicked on receive
fax and a box came up that said receive fax with a small
box on the right that said answer now. That is what was up
and running, and froze my machine. No faxes were received
while I was gone. There was a message on my phone machine
upstairs, so I did get a call, and perhaps that somehow
froze this software???

Can I just reinstall OUTLOOK without loosing all my old
data in my phonebook??? If I reinstall will it all be
deleted?

There is no such thing as an Outlook Fax system. I know of at least 5
different fax programs with which Outlook can integrate. You'll have to
figure out which one you're using and how it is configured.
Outlook has no "Receive Fax" command.

That's correct. You might want to look at Add/Remove programs to see which
program is installed (if the machine came pre-installed with a Fax
solution). This information will help us go further on this problem.

On the other question of whether you can reinstall Outlook without loosing,
that should be posted on the Outlook related newsgroups. Office also
supports a repair feature - you might want to try that if you are blocked on
this one.
