Help! I have Trojan Horse Startpage 7.AR

S

I recieved an XP message warning me that I have Trojan
Horse Startpage 7.AR so I run my AVG check which I keep
up to date and it did indeed confirm this.
The infected location is my C drive Windows/HRTCM.EXE and
AVG cannot remove the virus as an error message pops up
saying that it cannot remove Windows/HRTCM.EXE.
I am relatively new with computers and need some advice
on how to get rid of this.
Cheers

"Windows" told you that you had this virus? I don't think so as Windows
does not have a virus scanner built into it. Can you be more specific as to
where this message came from?

What is AVG? Your anit-virus software? Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and look at the
task manager's list of running processes. Do you see HRTCM.EXE listed? If
so, shut that process down and run your anti-virus software again.
