A Trojan Horse that is not removable???

K

Kris B.

I run my virus scan (AVG Version 6.0) as well as a 3rd
party spyware removal program and they both give me the
same response: My computer is infected with a trojan horse
dialer that cannot be quarantined or removed. The
invected file is windows\system32\wininetd.exe

My question is this:
Is this a normal windows file that my avg and spyware
protection programs are reporting as a trojan horse? If
not, then how can I remove the program, preferable without
re-formating my entire h/d. And since this is a dialer,
and I"m currently on Cable, will this trojan affect my pc?

Any assistance would be appreciated!

im not sure about the file name, but i was useing the
same virus scanner (avg ver 6) and got the blaster worm
it also locked on to a file in windows. it kept saying it
detected the worm but when i ran the scanner it could not
find it. when i removed AVG from my system, the infection
was gone--but when i went to AVG site to get a new
version of the virus scanner and downloaded it-- the
virus came back. I tried several different combinations
of file cleaning and compleat reloading of avg but virus
kept coming back. Finally i got rid of avg altogether and
bought norton web protector 2004. problem fixed!!!! As
AVG ver 6 is free, i think u get what u pay for, (nothing)
