HELP Can't install Windows 2000

I am upgrading from Windows 98. I got the infamous blue
screen with the following message:

Setup has encountered a problem and cannot continue.
Contact techinical support ofr assistance. The following
status codes will assist them in diagnosing your problem
(0x4, 0, 0, 0). Shut down or restart your computer.

What can I do? Has anyone else encountered this?
