my opinion is to get rid of avg and find an anti virus that either knows how
to remove it or gives you manual instructions on how to do it. anti virus
software that can't at least tell you how to get rid of something it finds
isn't worth the space on the harddrive it takes up.

Here is a link to a free online scanning tool from Trend
Micro. See if it doesn't remove it for you. You can
usually get manual removal instructions from Symantec or
Panda security as well.

Turn off System Restore (from the System applet in Control panel). Then
reboot. Now go into Safe Mode (repeatedly tap F8 as the computer is
starting to get the menu) and you should be able to empty your Temp
folder from there.

See this page http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_search.php downloader.stubby.a is clearly listed as having a removal tool.

Sometimes ya gota look, took me about 10 seconds to find it.

I use AVG 6 free edition, never had a virus even if in e-mail. For trojans
you can't get rid of (don't know much about AVG 7) but you can get Stinger
from Mcafee site, apparently made just for removing Trojans...

As for your comments Dave, AVG is excellent and has served me well for
years. Norton and Mcafee and that is all bloatware crap and as a gamer I
don't need stupid million options to tie up my precious memory, I like
antivirus software small and just does the job. There are many reasons it
might not be found on her AVG 7, could be she lacked updating it, was put on
her drive by someone else sharing their PC.. many reasons. Don't diss AVG
ok.. It's imo one of the best 'smallest' antivirus solutions around. It's
the first comment I have heard of AVG not removing a virus. I and many
others I know who use it have never had that problem.

First start - Run - MSConfig.exe and check the Startup page, and the
Services page (with 'Hide MSoft' checked) to see if there is any related
line: uncheck any you find.

Boot to 'Safe Mode - Command Prompt only', after hitting F8 as BIOS info
goes to black screen.

There you should be able to CD to get to the TEMP folder, and then
ATTRIB -H -R -S *.*
DEL /S *.*
to empty the folder.
