Have to hit F2 key every time I enter windows....

Hi everyone! I'm new.

Just recently I started having a problem with my computer. I have Windows XP
and every time I turn it on it beeps twice and takes me to the phoenix bios
screen, then I have to hit F2 to enter windows. Once I do that and actually
get to windows everything is fine, but I have to do it EVERY time I enter
windows now for the past few months.

Also, I have one more question. My father downloaded Service Pack 3 for
Windows XP and when he did he could no longer get to windows and we wound up
having to take his computer to the shop to get it fixed. Is there a problem
with SP3? I read on the net that several people had encountered like issues
after downloading it and was wondering if the issue had been resolved before
I do.

Any thoughts or suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

This indicates a problem with your hardware. The beeps are an audible code.
To find out what it means, contact the OEM's tech support if you have that
sort of computer (Dell, HP, etc.) or look on the motherboard mftr.'s tech
support site. It may also mean that you simply need to replace the
motherboard battery. If you have a desktop machine, this is easy. The
battery is small coin-shaped one and costs under $5. You can get it
wherever you buy batteries. If this is a laptop machine, contact the laptp
mftr.'s tech support for instructions.

I have installed SP3 on hundreds of machines with no problems. However, I
made sure that the computers were in tip-top shape. There is no way for us
to guess what was wrong with your father's computer. Here are links about

Bios Central: http://www.ekf.de/c/ccpu/cd1/firmware/biosinfo.txt

If the CPU, the memory and a graphics device is already successfully
initialized,
the BIOS shows most errors as red error messages on an attached monitor. The
display of these error messages is escorted by two short beeps to inform the
user to have a look on the display. Error messages are shown for five
seconds by default (can be changed per BIOS setup) before POST continues.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the OS. Your problem is in
BIOS and occurs long before the OS is even started up.
