F2 screen on Boot

Paul

When I turn on the computer after the Dell logo comes up
in the blue screen that has the "Press F2 to enter setup",
the computer goes directly into the BIOS setup screen
without me pressing the F2 button. I reinstalled Windows
once and it took care of the problem but I also had to
reinstall all the software. Before I have to do all that
again, I was wondering if anyone had this problem and what
was done to correct it.

Thanks

Sometimes a BIOS screen will appear when the information in the BIOS is different from what the computer finds. Be sure to "Save and Exit", do not exit the BIOS disregarding changes (this happened once after a memory upgrade).

Also, be sure that you are shutting down the computer properly.

Add that this is at the level of the hardware before windows ever gets
near to loading: reinstalling Windows is certainly *not* the thing to
do
