Hardware Profile Question

I have a user whose laptop is missing the Hardware Profiles.

If I Right Click "My Computer"
choose "Properties"
click the "Hardware" tab
click the "Hardware Profiles" button

there are NO profiles listed. Previously there used to be 2 profiles:
Docked and an UnDocked.

The laptop works ok with the exception of some special function keys but
there is no difference between being docked or undocked which is a problem.

Is there a way to get a "Hardware Profile" to be listed without reinstalling
the OS?

To what "computer profile" are you referring?

The laptop is running win2k and has no Hardware Profiles listed.
