Hi ,

i have a w2k domain and xp or w2k clients.
For the users which are traveling between the locations we have set up an
gpo that the connections settings is automaticly change their proxy settings.

I have configured the gpo:
User Configuration / Internet Explorer Maintenance / Connection /Automatic
configuration-> Enabel Automatic configuration with the path the pac file.
The pac file configures the browser depending on in which location you are.
The problem is when the user are @ home and they disable the automatic
configuration, so that they can use their private internet line , the
configuration won`t be applied if they are back in the company network.
Gpresult shows that the group policy is applied but the settings in the
Internet explorer stay the same as they have changed it @ home.
All other group policy`s are applied and the show the result as they should.

It is nessacary that the user can change the configuration.
Why is the gpo not "applied" and the settings in the ie as i configured them?

Some GPs only get re-applied if they get altered by the administrator.
If you want the IE-GPs to get applied every boot-up, you should look at
the following:

CompConf\AdmTemp\System\Group Policy\ - "Internet Explorer Maintenance
policy processing" and there: "Process even if the Group Policy objects
have not changed".

cheers,

Florian

Hello,

I hit exactly the same problem as you mentionned...
Did you find a reason of this problem ?

Jerome.
