Hey, let's be careful out there!

Windows 7 beta UAC completely vulnerable to malware

An almost unbelievable flaw in Windows 7 beta and Microsoft's User Account Control (UAC) feature - the one designed to keep all of the annoying messages seen in Vista away from its users - allows its protection to be defeated by any malware which happens to infect the system. The malware needs only to send a series of false keystrokes from a Visual Basic script to activate the UAC dialog, move the slider bar to the disable position, and then save the changes. After that, the program can access protected functions or even reboot the system, thereby gaining full total system access on restart.

EDIT: Dang... forgot to add the fix. Simple: set the UAC policy to "Always Notify".

Hi everyone just after installing Windows 7 and I have to say its one of the best operating systems I've ever used. I find it a lot faster than Vista and XP. For anyone who wants to compare their PC to mine to see if Windows 7 will work good heres my specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7000
Dell Dimension 4600
Intel Pentium 4 2.66Ghz
512MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 5200

Just discovered a load of activation keys online!! Yay now I can have Windows 7 forever!!!:D:D:D:D:D

Because BETA keys only work for a few months. For people to test it and find any bugs in it, then report back to Microsoft then Microsoft make the final edtion of windows 7.

Hmmm...Windows Seven?

Ain't in the bashing mood here.

Just want to ask you geeks here a question.

Now, frankly, I think Vista is about the crappiest OS ever invented, so I was wondering about what my techie friend thought of Windows 7.

This is what he said:

"Windows 7 is just Windows Vista without the bloatware."

Is that true?

Nope, that crown goes to Win ME.

Possibly.

But I feel Microsoft, for all their nastiness and ineptitude have probably tweaked the kernel and given the bloatware less priority in the general scheme of things.

Windows 7 Beta works quite well and is fast.

Whether it is still that good on official release, we shall have to wait and see.

Next question :)

I've installed it on to my virtual box software and I am impressed with the speed of it.
It looks quite attractive too.

I reckon it is a cross between server 2008 and vista
when is the official version being released?

Muhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... I knew this would happen...

Hey Mucks, sing with me:

Oh! I do like to be beside the seaside
I do like to be beside the sea!
I do like to stroll upon the Prom, Prom, Prom!
Where the brass bands play:
"Tiddely-om-pom-pom!"
