Getting rid of breaks in added music during scene transitions

I like adding music to my video and have done so in the audio/music track.
But when I watch my completed movie, there are quite often breaks in the
music at the points where scenes transition. They're very irritating. Is
there anyway to avoid these breaks when I'm editing the movie? Thanks for
your help !!

Here's a thought....

Open your project file in Movie Maker and look
carefully at your audio/music track to be sure
there is no space between the audio clips...you
can left click/drag them into position.

Also, you may find that some audio clips have
some dead air before the sound begins...try
removing that portion of the clip. If you place
your pointer on either end of the clip you will
see a double red arrow...you can drag this
arrow to trim the ends of the clip.

Hi John, thank you for your response. It happens even when there are no
audio breaks (i.e. it's a complete music) at all during scene transitions. I
was going through other discussions to see if anyone else had the same
problem. One person did note that when a movie is made using DV-AVI format,
this can happen and one solution is to delete all music and create the whole
movie first and import that movie again as one clip, then add music. Longer
process but that may be my only option. In any case, I appreciated your
input John.

Another potential reason is if the audio is MP3
Sometimes MP3's cause an audio "glitch" at transition points.
If the audio is MP3 try converting to WMA or WAV and see if that works.

The audio file type says Windows Media Audio File. How do I check if if it's
MP3? Sorry for the stupid question but I just cannot find out.

By the extension...the file name will be: xxxx.mp3

I assume you can';t actually see the extension at the end of the filename.
One way to see is:
In Movie Maker right click and select PROPERTIES
Under the "Location" property you will see a file location with the
extension at the end.
If you can't see the end just put your arrow over the location string and
the entire thing will pop up.

Thanks Wojo. The file extensions are all already .wma and not mp3 and so
unfortunately your proposal won't work. So I get I'll first make a video
without the music and later edit that to add music. Longer process but I'm
sure there won't be a break in music.

Yes that would be the other work around.
