getting fed up with XP

I have been having problems writing to my cd-rw.
Originally the problem was that when i would try to write
to a cd-rw disc the record now dx program was not
recognising a disc had even been inserted and would ask
for me to insert the blank disc and then eject the blank
disc that was in the drive when i tried to proceed. Ihave
been in contact with mastercare who have told me that you
are aware of this problem as windows xp does not support
writing to cd-rw disc's and requires a software patch to
correct this problem, they also informed me that as you
are aware of this problem that a patch was under
construction to resolve this issue. Is this correct?, if
so can you send me the correct patch for this and if not
can you advise how i sort this out.i am using a iomega usb
