Getting a new Laptop

I already have windows xp home edition, will this work on a laptop.

Specs are:
Intel Celeron D335 processor - 2.8GHZ
256MB RAM

Yes, as long as that copy of Windows XP is
not currently installed on a different computer.

If yours is a retail copy, yes. But if it's an OEM copy (for example if it
came with the computer), be aware that its license ties it permanently to
the first computer it's installed on. It can never legally be moved to
another computer, sold, or given away separately.

With Microsoft's dominance in the marketplace because most vendors pre-load
XP on their computers, I'm wondering where you are getting a new laptop
that won't already come with XP loaded on it? Most vendors won't sell you a
laptop without the operating system and hence give you a discount. So
what's the reason you think you require using the version you already have?

Also, laptops come with some pretty proprietary hardware. Manufacturers will
typically load special drivers and tools to deal with their particular
hardware. Again, why a need to use your existing version as opposed to the
pre-loaded one that will inevitably come with this new laptop along with
all those special drivers/tools?
