Get rid of password prompt on startup and drop down menu on shutdo

I reconfigured my hard drive and was in the middle of resetting all my
preferences for how Windows runs. I think I changed a setting on something
because now I am prompted to enter a password when I turn on the computer
(although a password is not required and I can just click "Continue" to
bypass it). And when I go to shutdown, the shutdown dialog box no longer has
the 3 radio buttons that read "Standby", "Log Off", and "Shut Down"; instead
there is a drop-down menu that I must use. Anyone know how to change it back
to the radio buttons and to prevent it from prompting me for a password on
startup?
Thanks in advance.

To restore the shutdown, go to Control Panel and double click
User Accounts.
Click on "Change the way users log on or off.
Put a check mark in the box next to "Use the Welcome Screen".
Note, you can also enable Fast User Switching.
Hit the "Apply Options" button.
When you go to shutdown your computer you should see the "Turn
off computer" dialog with the three button.

To logon automatically, do the following:
Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users for this computer" box, click on the account you
want to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

If you prefer, you can download a Microsoft program called
TweakUI and configure it accordingly. Take a look here for more
info on that procedure:

Good advice! If anyone posted a Google search titled "How should a
newsgroup work", Google should come up with a result of one link; this
newsgroup...
